After completing a Foundation Course at Manchester Polytechnic Janina went on to study for a degree in Fine Art at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham and graduated in 1975. She under took a PGCE and started teaching in 1978.

Formerly Head of Art and Design at Bury Grammar School Girls, Janina continued to develop her artistic practice and exhibit in both solo and group exhibitions during her teaching career of 34 years. Her own work informed her practice and through this she developed her GCSE and A Level courses in Drawing, Painting and Photography alongside Key Stage 3.

Many of her former students work in the creative industries and are involved in teaching.

Janina continues to maintain her links with art education through running workshops, giving talks and demonstrations and private tuition; She also selects for society exhibitions and delivers critical appraisals. All are tailored to the facilities and requirements of individuals and societies.
